Norman H. Strong, FAIA, LEED AP
Partner
Norman Strong has helped shape a practice that embodies the highest aspirations of design and firm culture, recognized by the AIA 2003 Architecture Firm Award.
He received a cum laude bachelor of architecture degree in 1978 from Washington State University, joined
Miller Hull in 1979 and was named partner in 1985. He now divides his time between the Seattle and San Diego offices.
As a former AIA National ’05 – ’07 Vice President, Norman was the Chair
of the AIA’s Sustainability Discussion Group (or SDiG) which was formed
to support the AIA’s position statements focused on high quality, high
performance buildings and sustainable community planning. Their work
was the spring point for the AIA to identify opportunities for architects to
be leaders in the design and construction arena to enable the entire team
to reach the AIA’s goal of carbon neutral buildings by the year 2030.
Norm was named a Fellow by the American Institute of Architects in 2004. He received the BetterBricks Advocate Award in 2007,
which recognizes those who advocate for and support the design and operation of high-performance buildings, including consultants
as well as workers in the government, nonprofit, and educational sectors.
