Garfield Community Center
The Garfield Community Center is located adjacent to Garfield High School on the corner of 23rd & Cherry in Seattle's Central District. The neighborhood community was actively involved in the decision making process through meetings with the architects, planners, the Seattle Parks Department and the Seattle Arts Commission. This facility provides a focus for the community and serves as a neighborhood "City Hall." The 20,000 s.f. center offers a playground, gymnasium and several activity rooms for education, crafts, computers and games. A Family Services Health Center is an integral part of the facility. The focus of the center is a large multipurpose room with a terrace opening out onto a tree-lined green with views across the park to the playfield. This room and the adjacent kitchen can be reserved for weddings, meetings, or community functions.
