Seattle Public Utilities South Transfer Station
Miller Hull is Architectural Design Lead on the Mortenson/URS Design-Build team for a new South Transfer Station for the city of Seattle, Washington. The project is one of two facilities serving the public as well as commercial haulers with a location to bring refuse prior to it being transferred to a recycling facility, composting facility or landfill. The nine-acre site has 141,000 SF of structures including a Transfer Facility, associated Scalehouses, and an Administration Building:

   • Five 50’-0” scales and their associated two scalehouses and three paybooths
   • Transfer Building with a 98,0000 SF commercial-hauler and self-hauler Tipping Floor whose debris or compost is pushed through slots to compactors and trailers below
   • Trailer Tunnel below Tipping Floor
   • Administration Building housing Administrative offices, Crew support facilities and a Vehicle Maintenance Area
   • Vehicle Refueling Area
