Scope of work
Custom single family home for a couple with an extensive collection of American Craft Art. The Owner served as interior designer in collaborative design process.

Project Description
This residence was inspired by a dialogue between art and architecture: the relationship between the two evolving through continuous design collaboration. It was this process that sought to create a detailed fit for the owners’ collection of American Craft Art. Intimate building details were created to display specific pieces.

Commissioned architectural works within the home also became elements of building craft: steel structures act as doors and displays, jewelry functions as cabinet hardware, and found objects are assembled into light fixtures. Finishes such as tile, plaster, steel, and concrete express the building’s art.

The home perches on a unique Seattle site: embedded into the hillside it overlooks a wild forested greenbelt. Articulated outdoor spaces and building site walls act as urban sculpture surrounded by the native landscape.
