Miller|Hull completed the Lower Campus of The Bush School in October of 2006.
Set amid the residential neighborhood of Madison Valley near Lake Washington,
the campus underwent a sensitive expansion and reworking of the constricted site.
The Lower Campus includes 58,000 s.f. construction of a new K-5 school, library,
sports center (weight room, locker room, PE offices, and classroom), gymnasium,
multi-purpose building, artificial turf playfield and playground all atop an
underground parking garage for 125 vehicles.
The total building area (including the underground garage) is approximately 94,600
gross s.f. The project also includes a remodel of the existing Middle School Buildings,
extensive landscaping and a new entry plaza.
Building materials include steel framing with a brick and concrete exterior and metal
standing seam roofs. Sustainable design elements include natural ventilation in the
classrooms, gymnasium and multi-purpose building, high efficiency lighting and green
materials such as natural linoleum flooring and recycled wood.
